The Wonderful Story of Cooky and Paige. [[Aka: How in the fudge they met.]]

A small brunette girl with hair to her shoulders and covering her face, save for one dark chocolate eye that peered through the mess of hair, walked tiredly and kind of beat up, along a dirt path.

Not too long before had the 13 year old girl encountered some ninja from her former home and had to defend herself since they would not let her go. Her head pounded with the worst headache and she had cuts and slashes from kunai.

Though she wanted to stop and sleep for days, she knew that she had to keep going to avoid getting caught and taken back to her village, only to be either executed or tossed hauled off to rot in Amagumo prison. Neither thought appealed to her and so she pushed on.

((2 years ago, eh? *rubs chin* Righto. 8D))

A 16-year-old Cooky, dressed in rags and covered in the filth that filled her prison home, continued to run through the many trees and bushes that covered said path. She was constantly stumbling and falling over due to lack of her muscles being used for the last 3 years and her abnormally long hair was breaking her vision; she was bleeding and bruised from what felt every patch of skin, but having practically no sense of pain anymore helped with that.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck--" She continued her long string of profrantities as she staggered along the path, only to slam into a much shorter body. Out of instinct, she immediately caught hold of who or whatever she ran into, only to blink down at the set of wide brown eyes attatched to a girl that had to have been only 13.

"My apologies." Cooky spoke quickly -- she was in a rush, after all. Having an entire pack of Amagumo guards chasing you for god only knows how many miles? Not fun.

The brunette looked up at the girl infront of her who spoke quickly. She could instantly tell that the girl was in trouble and needed help. When it came to others needing help, this girl woul ignore herself and help the other person even if she didn't know them. "You need help."

The girl's voice was cracked and worn as well as dry.

"Come on. I can help."

The mat of brown that was her hair, had not moved from her face, her one brown eye still showing through on the left side.

The corner of Cooky's mouth twitched down into a frown. "Are you kidding me? YOU look like the one who needs help, kid."

Almost instantly, the sound of many voices caught her finely tuned ears. Her head snapped around towards the noise, and she scowled. "Fuuuck." She growled. With another look towards the young girl, she quickly grabbed her around the wrist, throwing her onto her back in a strange show of strength before running off at break-neck speed.

Without stopping nor slowing down, Cooky spoke once again, her tone a low hiss. "For god's sake, whatever you do -- DON'T LET GO."

The girl wasn't sure what had just happened in those few seconds but she was now holding on for dear life to a person she didn't know. Not only that, but she was fighting to stay conscious from the lack of food in her system. The last time she'd eaten was about 4 days ago.

She managed to remain conscious as the other girl ran.

Cooky glanced back at the girl she was now dragging along with her, letting out a groan when she noticed that her eyes were beginning to grow heavy and glased over. "Well, ain't that just fucking perfect." She growled, pushing her misused legs further.

Before too long, she caught sight of an apple orchid along the side of the road. Taking in the ratted apperance of her human backpack, and the fact that she was wandering the roads alone, Cooky put the girl down to being a runaway, who probably hadn't had a meal in days.

With a sly grin, the convict instantly changed her direction towards the orchid, skidding down the slight hill and landing face first into the dirt, the 13-year-old having stayed safetly on her back.

Her voice came up muffled through the dirt. "...You alright, kid?"

"Yea. I'm fine." Her voice was very low and she completely denied the fact that she flet like utter shit. Probably looked like it too.

"You're all cut up. You need some help." The brunette persisted, pulling out a roll of bandages from a pouch on her side.

She crawled over to the older girl and took a look at the cuts.

As she proceeded to wrap the older girl's cuts, she was mumbling something like "Got to make up. Got to try and fix it. Can't ever fix it."

'Fan-fucking-tastic, dipshit.' Cooky sneered to herself. 'You just HAD to stop to pick up the crazy one who talks to herself. Nice judgement there.'

The very instant the younger girl's fingers touched her skin, she shoved her away, scowling darkly. "Don't touch me." She hissed out. There was a brief pause before her blue eyes flickered with horror and she swiftly stood up, walking over to a nearby tree and deftly plucked off a single red fruit. She instantly walked back over to the young girl, throwing the apple at her with that same scowl still pulling down her mouth.

"EAT." She stated firmly. "You look like you're about to die right here, and I've got enough shit of my own deal with without having your death hanging over my head."

The girl looked at the apple and then back at the blue-eyed girl infront of her before bringing the apple to her mouth and eating half of it in one bite.

Soon enough she leaned back against the tree and stared at the bright blue sky.

"Why.... did you help me?"

The question came from out of the blue but the brunette looked straight at the other girl.

"And....why didn't you let me help you?"

She was referring to when she tried to fix the wounds.

Cooky scoffed. "I'm not so heartless as to let a kid like you fall dead on the ground; give me some credit."

The con let her mouth twitch down into a frown. "...Why didn't I...?" She paused, before placing her hands behind her head and letting her body fall down to the hard ground, unaffected by her injured body as she crossed her legs. "...Let's put it this way, kid; lack of human contact does that to a person."

Obviously, the Cooky from years ago was a whole lot more blunt than her future self.

"Thank you," The girl whispered. "You're the only one who's help me..."

She cut her sentence short.

"I'm not going to hurt you though. And if your wounds get infected it would be worse than now. Please let me wrap them?" The brunette looked up at the girl in front of her, with pleading eyes.

Cooky grunted, unfamiliar with what people called "gratitude", before scowling and scratching her head in annoyance. Damn kids... "If it'll stop you from whining about it, go for your damn life."

Her eyes narrowed dangerously on the younger Paige. They were hard and icy -- she wasn't screwing around. "...But I so much as see a fingernail out of place, I'll have your head on a spike. Capiche?"

"Thank you, and I understand the conditions." Paige picked up the bandages again and wrapped Cooky's wounds.

When she'd finished her head snapped up and she looked in two directions before her eyes widened.

"You need to go. You need to get out of here now. Before they see you. If they see you they'll think you're with me. You have to go. Go now." She'd pulled Cooky to her feet and was giving her a light push in the direction that she should go.

Cooky sighed, running a hand through her hair before placing her hands behind her head and strolling along the beaten path at a leisurely pace. "Tch; whatever. Just don't come crying to me when you get caught, got it?"

With that said, the escapee continued walking, a cheery hum leaving her lips.

'Damn kids and their stubborness...'

Paige nodded at the elder girl and turned, going in the opposite direction.

She wasn't quick in her current state but it would cause them to chase after her and not the other girl who'd been the only person in her whole journey to stop and help her.

The girl was caught in the shoulder by a kunai and her hand went there automatically but she pushed on, hearing the Kumo-nins getting closer.

Cooky glanced back over her shoulder, eyebrows furrowed as she saw the girl get hit with a kunai.

She glanced over at the road she was following, then Paige. She repeated this until a pained groan left her mouth, covering her face with her hand in exasperation. "...Goddamn it."

Within an instant, she was infront of Paige once more, grabbing her by her upper arm and glowering. "This is just for healing my wounds, ya know." She growled. "Don't look too into it."

Another brief second, and Cooky had disappeared in a puff of smoke, Paige along with her.

The girl blinked for a second, processing what had happened. "But...I told you...to go..."

She looked up at the older girl. "What's your name?"

Cooky scowled, mostly at herself than anything else, waving a flippant hand at the younger girl's statement. She hardly wanted to know why she went back for a total stranger herself.

"...Cooky. No last name, don't ask." She grunted. "Just don't spread it around, alright?"

"I won't." The girl answered.

"I'm Paige." She pointedly ignored the pain in her shoulder and the fact that it was bleeding.

"And here is where we should get our seperate ways that way we don't have more people gunning for us than we already do." The brunette stated and gave a slight bow before turning and heading off.

((...Not making this easy for me, are you? xD))

Cooky let out an irritated growl, throwing up her hands and storming off. "Fucking kids! I try to help someone out for the first time in my whole damn life, and where does it get me?! God, Unjo was right -- people are as stubborn as bulls and twice as friendly!"

The escapee's ranting faded into the distance as she continued stalking away.

((Not really. ^^ But hey, life's a bitch because if it was a slut it'd be easy. I thinks you should log into msn. ^^ I have an hour and then my show is on. ^^ Pleash? For yo little kohai?~<3 Oh and shall we time skip or something?))

The girl sighed. Everytime.

I always do that.

So maybe one other person had tried to help her. A little boy in a small town she'd passed through a few weeks before. But, she'd pushed him away with her words, whether to keep him safe from the nins who were after her, or because he reminded her of the boy who's life she'd ended.

Paige walked along, knowing that in a few days, the ninja will catch up with her again.

((I'm getting off to have lunch riiiight nao. xD And there's a problem with that little timeskip plan... I'd be thrown back in jail by that point. C:))

((Aww, 'Kai. One day though! One day you shall be on at the same time I am. damn time zones. You're 15hours ahead of me. It's 8:16pm here. Hmm, so if Cooky shall be back in jail....nao what?))

Two Days Later

The petite brunette hung from a wall in a cell at Amagumo prison, chains holding her hands apart from each other. She'd not eaten since her encounter with Cooky and she'd not had water since the small amount a guard had given her the previous day.

It's unclear how long she could last in this damn'd prison, but knowing her stubborn persona, she'd go for a long time.

A mocking laugh came from outside her cell but the girl didn't budge. "Stupid bitch, you thought you could get away."

"Go the fuck away, before I fry your ass." Came the low, worn yet still threatening comment from the girl.

The laugh echoed throughout her cell. "You can only pull that off if you feel like getting half the shock if not more. Metal shackles you stupid kid."

Paige knew that this was going to be a long sentence, but each day she went through scenerios in her head to find a way off getting out with as little damage as possible.

Loud yelling was heard from across the hall of Paige's cell; however, this room was different. While the others were the standard iron bars, this particular cell had what seemed like a real wall covering the bars -- blocking out the rest of the world. Solitary confinement. The voices were slightly muffled, but the person was shouting loud enough for the words to become audible.

"--TRY AND ESCAPE AGAIN, YOU FUCKING BITCH AND I SWEAR TO GOD, I'LL--!!"

"You'll do what? Please; you couldn't scare a child, Shu-kuuun~

"

The sound of a loud crack along with a heavy thump echoed through the hall. The strange wall-door slammed open, the guard from inside storming off without closing it, leaving only the standard iron bars.

Cooky was hanging upside down from her ankles inside, an amused grin splitting her bleeding mouth and a thick stream of blood staining her forehead from the injury dealt to her temple before gravity sent it splattering against the cold stone floor below. The moment she set eyes on Paige (upside down Paige, but still) across the hall, that smile tranformed into a furious scowl.

"Aw, for fuck's sake. What'd you do to get thrown in this dump, kid? I thought you ran off!"
