Ramen Shop~

Subject: Ramen Shop~ Fri Sep 04, 2009 3:42 am

Nena sighed as she looked into her half-eaten bowl of ramen. She had left the soup but gobbled most of the noodles. Her reflection was frowning at her. "Come on . . . smile." She told it and flashed a grin of her slightly sharp teeth and began to grimace. "Ugh, you look like your father." She snapped to her liquid-self. "Zabuza . . ." She whispered resentfully under her breath. Ugh, you have his wretched eyes! She told herself blandly as if she were a stranger to her own self. "Shut-up and order more Ramen before you go crazy from talking to yourself . . ."

"One sweet chicken ramen, please, and whichever one my friends wants." Minoushje says once she's taken her seat next to Nena. "I don't know who your father is but don't worry... sometimes children take after just one parent or they skip a generation. Though I don't know if your mum or grandparents are better liked by you."
Even though Minoushje didn't know how to talk about this, or how to cheer Nena up a bit, she had the feeling that she and Nena shared something. Seeing as she hated her father and hasn't seen him for over 12 years.

Nena looks over to Minoushje and half-heartedly smiles. "I wish I were from a nice place like Konoha instead of the Bloody Mist . . ." She sighed. She looked into her replaced bowl of Ramen and ate it slowly, savoring the flavorful noodles. "Thank you, it's just sometimes my reflection get's me down because it resembles his so much." She turned to Minoushje. "Have you ever saw someone else in your reflection?"

Minoushje shrugs.
"Just my parents. I'm actually glad to say I look a lot like my mum... my dad wasn't exactly a rolemodel, he drank too much and he's mentally ill on top of that." Minoushje sighs, she never told anyone that but she had the feeling she could trust Nena with this. "But, you know, sometimes when I stand in front of a mirror I get scared... what if I look like him, what if I get insane too. I don't want to look like him but I guess you know how that feels, right?"
Minoushje smiles somewhat sadly after which she takes a bite from her ramen.

"All too well."Nena nods while staring bitterly into her reflection. "My mother died after her last photo was taken as she held me in her arms after giving birth. Father raised me at arms-length and might have even resented me for taking his wife away." She admitted in gloomy nostalgai while slurping noodles. "I look nothing like her, so he had nothing to hold on to when she was gone except me and my kekkai-genkai of uselessness, and I was his image to top it all off." She stared into the reflection in question with contempt. "I like and dislike the fact that I look like him. Dislike because the angry expressions and and dissapointed looks are all too familiar." Nena then turned to Minoushje with laminated eyes. "And like because . . . well, if I smile, I can sometimes trick myself into pretending it's him, proud of me for once."

"Even though I don't know how long it's been since you saw your dad but I bet he'd be proud if he saw you right now. I mean, you're amazing with weapons and you have a kekkei genkai... unlike others in this ramen bar." Minoushje says smiling. "And as far as the angry looks... it's easy to see the girl behind those expressions, for me at least, and I think you're an amazing person to know and hang around with."
Minoushje finishes her ramen.
"We just have to remember that we're unique individuals and we're no clones of our fathers... no matter what others may say or think."

Nena's eyes start to get teary as she looks into her bowl with a full-on smile. "Thank you, Minoushje. You're really amazing yourself, your words are very inspirational." She closed her eyes and let out a relaxing breath. "You truly are a healer."

Minoushje smiles and puts some money on the counter.
"How about we try and find Shikamaru... that was the reason you came here in the first place, right? We're just going to have to convince him he has to help you with training... unless he wants to hang upside down from a wisteria vine for the rest of the day."

Nikki, who had been in the Nara forest recently, walked into the ramen bar, sitting down at the couter and stretching her arms out in front of her, "Neee, what a good nap. Too bad Shika-nii-kun is on a mission. I was going to make him pay for my ramen."

She blinks, then turns to see Nena and Minoushje, "Oh, um...hi there." She quickly looks away, not wanting to let either girl see how diappointed she was with herself at the moment. The only Nara who didn't possess the clan's famous kekkei genkai. How lame is that?

Nena laughs. "Nah, I'm fine. I've recently made it to Jonin, and I think that position suits me just fine for now." She looks up with a half-smile. "Maybe I'll go to the training grounds later and brush up on my fighting, though. I need to work on picking up my speed and reflexes." She laughed while looking at the burn mark on her arm that slowly healed from her battle with Roy. "I also need to learn not to jump head-on with an attack just so I could hit my opponent, it's a bad habit." Nena turned and saw Nikki. "Hey, Nikki." She smiled.

Nikki slightly jumps when she hears her name, "A-ah...so you're a Jonin now, huh?"

She looks down at the glass of water Ayame just brought her and sighs deeply, mumbling to herself, "I wish I could do something other than run away and dodge attacks."

Nena turns to Nikki. "I wish I could be even half as fast as you and dodge attacks. You should be thankfull you have speed and good reflexes, it's better than having to sustain bruises and wounds." She said before slurping up some noodles that lay astray in her bowl. "Or are you forgeting my lagging behind while we were heading to the Nara Forest?" She smiled.

She raises an eyebrow, "Touché."

Sighing, she sips some of her water, and almost instantly starts to wobble around, "But I dun get why I gotsa be so fass..." She doesn't even seem to notice that she's slurring her words, and that she's not drinking her water. She's drinking some misplaced sake!

"I dun get it ah awll." Her head slams onto the table and she passes out. Can't hold her alcohol at all.

Nena sees Nikki pass out and widens her eyes. "Uh-oh . . ." She pokes Nikki to make sure she's alive. "Nikki?" I wonder if Shikamaru can hold his alcohol? She briefly ponders. I wonder if he'll be mad that she's had a drink, mistake or not.

Shikamaru walks in the ramen bar, looking more tired and annoyed than usual. "Has anyone here seen my-"

He looks at the currently passed out brunette and grits his teeth, picking up her glass and lightly smelling it.

"Okay, who the hell let her drink this?!" His tone is anything from calm as he smashes the cup in his hands. "Shit..." He curses, putting some money on the counter for the cup he just smashed. He looked around the bar, noticing all of the frightened looks he was getting. "Is anyone going to answer me?!"

Nena coughs overly casually and stands up in front of Shikamaru. "Calm down, it was just a drink mix-up, nothing to get mad about." She examines the quick anger stricken in him and frowns. "Someone just mixed her water for some sake, it it's just a mistake. She's fine, really, she just needs a cold shower to wake her up is all."

"No, you don't get it..." Shikamaru sighs, sliding his hand down his face. "Sake has a strong smell, so she would never mistake it for water."

He looks over at Nikki, staring to calm down a little as he sees that she isn't a violent drunk like her no-good father.

"Whatever...it's fine now." He sighs, and walks over to Nikki, jabbing her in he side with his index finger, "Damn woman...I guess I forgot to tell you to stay away from bars this morning." He grabs a glass of water, and splashes it in Nikki's face, "Get up already."

"Eeeeyyaaahhh!" Nikki screams, jumping up from her seat and wobbling around a little, "I swear it was all Chouji's idea!" She looks around and the bar and notices the people staring, and Shikamaru with an empty glass in his hand.

"Oh god! What did I do?!" She grips onto Nena's arm, "What happened?!"

Nena thinks on what Shikamaru said and wonders if Nikki was too distracted when she went to take a drink to notice it was sake. She feels Nikki cling to her arm and laughs nervously. "Well, you passed out after a sip of sake . . ." She said slowly. "Then Shikamaru came, went all scary-face on us, and threw water in your face. Are you alright? You passed out pretty quickly."

"I what?!" She lets go of Nena's arm, a slightly horrified look on her face, but it's instantly replaced with relief when she hears that she passed out right away.

"So, that means I'm not like him?" She looks over at Shikamaru hopefully, but then notices that his hand is bleeding, "Oh my god! You weren't kidding when you said he went scary-face!"

She stumbles her way over to Shikamaru, tearing part of her shirt to bandage his hand. "Thank you for worrying, but you didn't have to make yourself bleed!"

Him? Nena thought. Who could she mean? She wanted to ask but didn't because she felt it wouldn't be her place to request such evidently private information. She looked at Shikamaru's hand from over Nikki's shoulder. "Is he going to be okay? I hope it doesn't get infected."

Shikamaru lets Nikki bandage his hand, a slightly amused grin on his face. "You could never be like that no-good father of yours."

He then looks over Nikki's head at Nena, "Oi, it's fine...it barely even cut me." He cringes a little as Nikki tightens the cloth around his hand, glaring up at him.

Nena cocked her head back hearing that Nikki also had a no-good father. She wanted to say something, like that she understood how she felt, but now wasn't the time. The lighter mood trumped over it's morbid undertone.

She saw Shikamaru flinch and resisted the urge to giggle. "Yeah, barely. Good thing you showed that cup who was boss." She gave him a thumbs-up and turned to Nikki while placing the back of her hand against her forehead. "For a girl who can't hold her alcohol you recover rather quickly. Yet another thing I have to envy of you." She smiled jokingly.

Nikki glares up at Shikamaru, "It's deeper than you think." She carefully pulls out a few shards of the cup that were still in Shikamaru's hand, "You were just too distracted to notice."

She turns around and nods at Nena who then puts her hand on Nikki's forehead, "It won't get infected as long as this dobe doesn't try anything stupid for a couple of days. And he and I are both sorry for putting you through something like this." She then scratches the back of her head a little, "It was only one sip...and that water was freezing!"

She pauses for a few moments, but then shakes her head. Nena probably didn't want to know about her drunkard father.

Nena smiled. "Don't worry, you didn't put me through anything. I'm just glad your fine." She paused, unsure of her following words. "For what it's worth, I know what it's like to passionatly not want to be like someone."
